Blogspot's been blocked...

Guess what, after Livejournal was blocked by China, Blogspot is now blocked too, can't access the homepage but can access the entry page, but sooner or later they'll figure out to block the entry page too.

Somehow the forces seem to be against us.

Anyway, we'll keep blogging for as long as we can. At most we'll end up using sohu.com.

Birthdays!!!!

March 2, Aileen

This is the whole shanghai chain gang... left to Right, Ming Yen, Edward, Me, Aileen, Daren, Les and Jackson.

Birthdays are the best even though its means u're older, wrinkler, and that you have to start getting mature about somethings. I like the cakes, the presents, the well-wishes, and knowing that u've lived past another year, its more like a celebration of completion rather than a celebration of a new beginning. U know what i mean?

Get a room Daren!

Anyway, Daren isn't comfortable with PDA, so this was an exception (had to go on my blog). Also because the birthday girl was SO SMOKIN Hot... heh.

Ok one more time, CHEESE.... Aileen looks like Carina Lau in pictures

The night was quite fun...After dinner at South Beauty (serves the best chinese food in SH in my opinion), we walked around for a pre-clubbing drink at a microbrewery. Little did we know that the place just opened so all the drinks were on the house. It was just a small pint of sampler, but free is good. The beer was also extremely fresh. I'm a lightweight when it comes to drinks tho... Lester usually guzzles everything for me.

Free beer at some new pub... Can't remember the name.

We then went to British Bulldog, our usual hangout for ANOTHER drink, cos it was too uncool to go to a club too early. At about 12 midnight, we hit MUSE, first club i went to in Shanghai. Hip-hop and Progressive House playlists...Hip-hop's not our thing, but i thought it was okay, at least they played Pussycat Dolls. Progressive House wasn't the best, but it was okay too. We all had fun...

March 3, Lester

Lester's birthday was a bit more tamed. After a night of partying, we wanted to do the usual. Chor Dai Dee and Gin Rummy(or as Daren would put it, Jin-Ram-Mi). Anyway, we've progressed from manual to electronic calculation of our winnings. Daren the bookie came up with a sophisticated (cheah) calculating apparatus tht kinds whizzes up the numbers really quickly. Solid...

Anyway, this was us at A Future Perfect. Its a restaurant very near our place which serves italian food. Post-modern concept, indoor alfresco. Its also one of the places Lester brought me to on our date (*blush*). Food ranges from 3 to 5 stars, depending on what you order.

We adjourned to British Bulldog AGAIN... these are the BOYZ...

And the Gals... MingYen is absent.

And this is Ed... in his usual state.

We later "surprised" Lester with a birthday cake!! He wasn't surprised at all cos he already saw the cake in the fridge during the day. Whoops. But its okay, he appreciated the effort.

Anyway, Daren's birthday is next, March 9. But i realise i haven't got pictures... Will update them once i have it!

Our trip back to Singapore and JKT

Here are the pictures as promised, in chronological order...

Amelia's birthday, 14th Feb 2008

Amelia is a V-day baby. You would think that she's a hopeless romantic, but she actually never ever celebrates her birthday (or V-day) at any expensive pish-posh places. She thinks there's no point paying the premium… We couldn't agree more. V-day is for suckers.

This is Leslie and Amelia...

Lester's parents. So who does he take after? A bit of both I think.

Meeting up with old friends

These are the MEC girls. Ever beautiful and sassy, every single one of them.

Dinner at Mark and Heather's new pad

Lovely place they have, its got a super huge balcony where you can sit and laze and enjoy the view all day and night.

Heather and I were colleagues at MEC, we joined at about the same time and shared raises, promotions, joys, frustrations, anger, anxieties, shopping marathons, wedding proposals (H&M are getting married end of the year) and most recently trying out wedding gowns for the first time. We're tight. She's the best, and she's got the most likable ang-moh fiancé in the world.

This is Mark, some video production something at ESPN. He can sing, he's funny, and he's a great chef, he whipped a delicious Spag-Bol for us. SO YUMMY….

Heather and her freaky neck.

Jakarta, kids and more kids!

The trip back to JKT was more relaxed this time. We spent 4 days back home, and played a lot with the children. You won't believe this but Lester is the most patient when he plays with children. And the babies totally dig him…

This is Mischa and Lester. She practically ran to him and clung on to him like a chimpanzee the first time they met. She didn't even need to warm up. I'm so jealous that Mischa likes him more than her own aunt! She wants him to carry her everywhere they went.

This is Shannon and her classic smile, u won't know if she still can see.

And this is Sonia, my god daughter. Son's a bit more independent so she likes to play alone. She's a tough nut to crack.

On the whole, the JKT trip was quite fun. It was a good chance for Lester to get to know my family. I think he enjoyed getting to know them as well.

I'll be posting birthday pictures up soon. Watch out for them!
