Bag it up!

For a while now Lester and I have been arguing over a handbag. Essentially I want to buy one, and he won't let me. I tell him, "its just a handbag... ", and he'll say "it's not just a handbag...".

I've been doing a lot of research on this particular model i like (or fell in love with), and it led to a slippery slope into the world of handbags. Now i tend to agree with Lester's statement, handbags are really not just handbags.... Of course this statement of his has been taken out of context through selective hearing.

It's like an art piece. It literally has value, you can hand it down to your children as dowry, or sell and pawn the bags (yes, even singapore accepts handbags at pawnshops these days). But instead of displaying it at home u carry it along with you so people can admire/enjoy it. It also does more than just "decorating" you, it carries ur wallet, your keys, your make-up pounch, and most of the time it acts like a deposit counter to ur boyfriends/husbands things.

For more information on handbags, there are a list of sites that people dedicate to HANDBAGS. No kidding... imagine writing an entire blog based on the latest launches of handbags, who is carrying what, care for bags, limited editions etc.

  2. bagsnob.com
  3. bagbliss.com
  4. http://www.colour-dreams.net/bag-blog/

But this still bags the question, why do i need more than 1 expensive bag? I don't know any girl who doesn't know the answer, and any guy who does.

Bestmen Forever

The Perfect Groom by Patrick Sagaram

The perfect groom is kind, gentle and sweet
He is slow to anger and wears a beautiful smile when he eats meat
A perfect groom loves the children that he will raise by your side
He will show his love and be a good father and husband to his bride

A perfect groom will cook, clean and do the laundry too
And in your darkest hour, his love will come through for you
A perfect groom will write a sonnet in your name
he will love your mother even though she's a p***(censored but figure it out)
And when you cry, he will dry your tears and make your pain go away
And if this poem is true, then Lester you truly are GAY.

Lot's of Love,
Your Brother from Another Mother...

This poem was read to us over dinner by Lester's bestman. They promised to be each other's bestman when they were like 12. i didn't know guys do that....

Mr O

Ew... I just caught Mr O ferociously digging his nose after lunch... now he is asleep.
This reminds me of ugly naked guy on F.R.I.E.N.D.S.

photo experiments

Thanks to friends' recommendation, Lester and i finally bought our new toy, the new canon powershot G9.

I am still very confused about the different functions, can't really tell the difference in picture quality (or rather the theoretical differences i'm supposed to observe) when i change the aperture size. I'm still learning the concepts of stealing light and adjusting ISOs...

But hey i've had a lot of fun with the new camera. And even on PROGRAM mode, the picture quality is visibly better than my Point and Shoot.
Anyway over the weekend, friends and i went to La Creperie for brunch. And i experimented with some cool functions.

This is the colour accent... very cool. It basically picks up certain colours in the picture according to ur preference.

And the gang had fun taking some jumping shots! (thanks vika for teaching)
Ready.....
Wheee!

JUNO

A no frills show that thrives on good scripwriting. I'd rate JUNO just slightly below Little Miss Sunshine- the plot sticks, the lines are memorable, and i wanna buy the soundtrack after.
Kudos to Jennifer Garner for acting as a real woman for once, not some iron-clad superhero.

This is my favourite scene from the show...

we do...

In the eyes of the law, we are husband and wife. Mr and Mrs Ng.
The evening was perfect. The weather, the setting, the ceremony, the food, the wine...

The burning question is if there's a difference being married and not being married. The answer is YES. Suddenly, we feel more responsible for each other, and a greater need to protect one another. There is no more playing on different sides of the court. We're now a team and we'll need to work on life projects together- in sickness and in health, in sadness and in joy...

Anyway, special thanks to...
Dominic and Patrick - For being there for Les, for serving without complaints (or at least not that i know of), for making merry, for making it happen.
Sisters- For being at my disposal even though i don't like how it sounds. For being supportive and adding joy to the occasion.
Old and New Family members- for loving us and accepting us both. You've all been helpful and supportive in many ways. We're eternally grateful and feel very blessed.

Rat-ta-ta-ta...

The lunar year crept upon me while i lay bed-ridden for 2 days, sick with a lethal strain of flu from Indonesia, and a mild diarrhoea.

I may have missed my last reunion dinner as singleton, but the trip back to indonesia was definitely fruitful. My future-in-laws (FIL) paid a last minute visit to my mom and everything went well... My mom is happy with her new friends and the generous gifts from them. In fact, my mom even joked about how she can't refuse the marraige anymore since the goodies have all been eaten up... =)

Currently i'm in singapore, feeling the full effects of rising inflation. Everywhere i turn i see "warning" signs... "With effect from Jan 1 2008, 1 plate of chicken rice will cost $4".

Taxis now jump 20 cents every 330 meters, i think this will overtime contribute to another nationwide phenomenon called Weight Loss. No need the great singapore workout, just increase the price of cab fares by exhorbitant amounts. I finally understand how the japanese stay so slim despite a diet of katsu curry, Tempura, japanese mayo and tonnes of carbo, u freaking walk everywhere cos a cab ride costs u a fortune.

Anyway...despite the rising cost of living, there's still reason to rejoice cos i'm counting down to 18 Feb. 1 more week before i say I DO. Still everything is behind time, i don't think i have done things right. Did i file my registration, am i supposed to call the JP, have i got the guest list sorted, have i done this and that.... The ROM website has a list of FAQs and Things to do if u screw up.

For eg.
WHAT if i forgot to bring important documents?
Ans: Keep cool and calm. If solemnization can be delayed pls inform Justice of Peace..
WHAT if the solemnizer fail to turn up?
Ans: Keep cool and calm. Go to website...

I felt kinda ticklish after reading this. By the time i unleash my bridezilla, no amount of Keep Cool and calm can hold me down.

When the males bond...

Lester already had his first stag night 2 weekends ago. The 3 stooges visited the former capitol of china and had what appeared to be a very fruitful trip! The main agenda was to visit the Nanjing Memorial Hall, and of course to eat and get drunk. The freezing weather definitely did not stop the 3 boys from having fun and being silly.

Them at the memorial...

Them being silly...

Jackson and Lester sharing a moment...

They even found time to go to the salon for a haircut.

this is their 30 bucks a night hostel.

Don't ask me what happened before and after this picture was taken. Ha ha..

Whiter Shanghai

here are some more pictures of snowy shanghai.

This is the same view i took a few days ago. More snow coverage now. Brrrr...

Just outside our apartment. I never made a snowman before...

Near our office....

Snowing quite heavily in the morning...

Shanghai is cold beyond believe right now. So many people are complaining that their heater aircons at home are not good enough for a winter like this. Our houses have turned into an igloo.. Les and I wrap ourselves up with blankets at home... Can't wait to return home to the sun and the warmth.
