Shanghai Acrobatic Troupe
If you haven't already, i strongly suggest catching this. Its worth every penny...
Cost: RMB 200 per head
Venue: Portman Ritz Carlton
Duration: 1.5 hrs of gasping
Here's a quick preview of the acts.
I called it the Balancing Contortionist ... U know how usually the contortionist just contorts, this one balances as well.
Flying Dramatic Duo. This is one of my favourites. A bit of drama coupled with gravity (and death) defying acts. Sorry the picture's a bit blur. Its a bit hard to catch the action when they are in mid-air.
Managed to record a video of one of the acts. I shd have been on video mode earlier. But then again if i do then there's no reason for you to go see them. I call this the Ong Bak act.
Okay lastly, the multiple handstand but on stacked chairs act...

Chinese and their names
We have nothing personal against the individuals mentioned in our blog... If you happen to share the same name as these people, please also don't be offended. If not, better just DON'T Proceed to read...
Chinese are not usually born with an english name, so very often they choose it at the age of about 13 to 15, and usually the names mean something significant to them. At that point in time at least...
I recall this conversation with one colleague...
Colleague: Hey Lester, u used to be from zenith right?
Lester: Yes yes, u too?
Colleague: yes yes... but last time i was Nancy so u may not know me.
This happens very often in china, people change their names when they change a new company.
Another email i received sometime ago...
Subject: New IT Manager Jade Hong
Hi all, pls join me in welcoming a new addition to the IT department.
Jade comes with many years of experience, he will be in charge of....
Jade left the company in 1 week. Maybe he is now Ruby...
That's problem number 2, very unisex names. I also know a male Kristy.
So here are some of our favourites.... We try not to put anyone we know well enough to come and kill us...
Nana (as in comic Book Nana, works in starbucks)
Coky (pronounced as cookie, this guy who works at Starbucks downstairs)
Zambo (??? One of the colleagues in BJ)

Wedding Prep
I've been quite busy recently with work and i try to slip in a bit of wedding planning here and there. The most recent project is actually to plan for our Wedding Solemization...
Initially, we wanted a simple affair, just go to ROM and sign the thing and then proceed to dinner. But after a while, we (or rather I) thought that its a meaningful day afterall, we (or rather I) should do something a little more special and meaningful.
So far we've gotten quotations for locations. Actually wanted to hold the ceremony at this restaurant we had out first date, but apparently the place closed down! So we're narrowing down the options now.
I think all the planning has affected my REM quality. 2 nights ago i had the strangest dream. I was in a church, apparently about to go through my solemnization, apparently my hair was really messy because i didn't have time to go to the salon, and then i remembered that i forgot to bring my own camera. Later on as i was walking down the aisle, my niece decided that she wanted to walk with me instead of ahead of me, and she started asking me a lot of questions but i kept telling her to get back in line... It was quite funny.
Anyway, we've made some progress. We set up our own wedding website so our friends can keep in touch and RSVP later on, have a look! http://www.lovexiaolongbao.weddingwindow.com/

YabadabaDoooo!!!!
Our first Halloween Shanghai...
Costume was tailored at the fabric market, RMB200 (SGD 40) for both outfits. I think we were the only ones who actually went to tailor costumes, everyone else bought ready made.
Hosts.... Aileen the Harajuku gal, and Daren the villian from SCREAM.
Us and Cheng. Little Red Riding Hood... Act cute somemore. Her hair is a wig, she fooled us all.
Ming Yen the Angel...
Us Girls....The boys took off their costumes pretty early in the night (excpet lester cos he can't actually take off his costume and walk around barebodied)...
Freezing Flintstones....
Everyone had loads of fun and it was indeed a night of frighteningly crazy people! We were exchanging wigs and props, played taboo and took lots of mad pictures.

In memory of Lemon Plant
2 weeks ago, Les and I finally got our act together to decorate our balcony. We finally went to Hong Qiao Market to buy our plants...Its a pretty cool place. Not only can we buy potted plants/fresh flowers, there was also a good selection of plates and kitchenware.

Aileen: I heard you killed the Lemon Tree! Refuse to give it water...
Lester: I wonder how, I wonder Why...
Aileen: But it was defenceless!
Lester: It was a fool's garden.
So at the end of our shopping, we got ourselves 1 christmas tree, 3 violets, 1 rosemary, 1 basil, 2 lavenders, 1 chinese flower plant, 2 chili padi (free) and 1 lemon plant.
Kring kring kring... come christmas, this tree will be thick and full, good enough to decorate. hee hee...
Chili padi plant came like this, so i didn't kill it. it was already sickly.
R.I.P. Lemon Plant (who is no longer after 2 weeks)
Lemon plant oh Lemon Plant.... Rest in Peace. I'm sorry i didn't take care of u well enough. I shouldn't have listened to Lester when he told me not to water u too often. I'm sorry that u have to die of thirst rather than drown in water which might have tasted like fine wine to you.

Wedding Planning- Why i love my friends
We finally made progress in wedding planning, after slacking for soooo long...
Esther calls me the slackest bride and i couldn't agree more!
It's not easy trying to get things going when i'm not physically in Singapore. Les and i have been doing a lot of brainstorming, think of things to do but then we really haven't done much except thinking.
Today, i gathered a wonderful task force who are willing to participate in making this holy matrimony happen, and it signals a great start.
Thing about getting people to help is that its always a big dilemma. Don't ask also u scared to leave them out, but then ask also scared kenna rejected. It's just such a relief to know that there are people out there whom I haven't totally been there for, but then they are still willing to help.
In our opinion, wedding planning should be fun, it shd be relaxed, everybody should enjoy being part of the process. And if anyone should feel stressed, don't be because Les and I are more than happy to have friends to just share the occasion with, there is no report card saying u did a good job or a bad job. We'll love u and we want u to keep loving us back, that is most important.
