Stop and smell the flowers

Cos now we really can! Flowers are blooming in springtime. I never realised before that this season is so pretty. It marks the end of a cold and dreary winter. Seeing these beautiful magnolias every morning puts a smile on my face.


The white magnolias bloom faster than the pink ones. Looks like tissue paper right?

I managed to cam whore a bit, it's been a while since i dare to take a picture of myself cos i feel very unattractive... can see stomach? my dress very tight today cos i've ran out of work clothes to wear so bopian.



And no my nose doesn't look bigger (neither did my sister's when she was pregnant with boy or girl). My skin is the same, but my hair is oily.

what an ingrate!

this is one of those rare occasions i bitch about a colleague.

in the spirit of speaking out and not supressing myself like before, i did it. i msn quarrelled with a colleague. i told her to "relax" and "take a chill pill". It's the most insulting phrases i would every use on anybody, and it definitely got her ruffled. cos she's still rambling on MSN and i'm ignoring her. haha!

She doesn't realise tt i've been saving her ass the last 2 years, whenever my boss wants me to give her a review, i've always spoken well of her, defending her attitude problem. She thinks i like fixing her broken english so i feel good about myself- she doesn't know tht her boss can't stand looking at her work and wants me to fix it before he looks at it.

Sometimes i tell her to do A and she does B. She's the kind who makes up new english words like "mainstorm" and "infulence", and today she dares to claim tht i beat around bush when i'm ask her for something? Wake up her idea ok, if i can understand half of wht she says, i won't need to be diplomatic and try to be nice when i ask her for clarifications. I just had to tell her "honey, have u put yourself in my position before, i have a hard time understanding you".

ok enough rambling, back to work.

Letter to Tamagotchi: death is not the answer

Dear little one,

there may be many things i may not get a chance to speak to you about. Maybe it's hard for me to verbalise, maybe i won't be there, or maybe you won't want to confide in me. But there are somethings in life that i want to make sure you know about. Some fundamentals that i won't ever want you forget.

There will come a time in ur life when u feel extremely sad and in pain. U feel the world doesn't understand you, nobody cares about you (which will not be true because dad and i will ALWAYS love you even though we may not seem so, u'll only understand when u become a parent urself). U will encounter problems that you think u can't solve. U will feel injusticed and frustration. U may even be cornered to a point where u think there's no way out.

I want to say once and for all, death is not the answer. Life is breathed into you by God, so it's not for you to take. Even if u don't believe in God, death is never the solution to anything because u can't make things right when u're no longer alive. Some people take their lives because they are depressed, but truth is depression alone will never instigate you to take ur life- suicide is always a demonstrative act to the society. I know how it feels like when u're angry and want to make a statement to show everyone how unhappy you are. Believe me, i've been there.

But i'll tell u a harsh truth...Don't be foolish- if u're gone, the earth will continue spinning, people will move on, they will forget. they will want to forget you.

Instead, embrace life. The challenges in life will only be sweet if u overcome it. Also know that success in life is not an entitlement. Happiness is not an entitlement. Riches and material goods in life is not an entitlement. The only entitlement u'll ever have is love from dad and i.

Don't ever give up when u face hardships. You just gotta sit through the rain if u want to see the rainbows.

Sunny days

Beijing is FINALLY warming up. The weekend that just passed was beautiful. Skies were blue, temperatures ranging between 10-20 degrees celcius. The qoofamily invited Mountain man and i to Chaoyang park for a nice stroll... I've never been to a park in Beijing, it was fun! It's nice to get out of the house.

i'm my own superhero

Some events have happened recently which led me to conclude that i cannot control my temper and need for an immediate solution to "right" the "wrong". I'm not saying that my standards of right and wrong is universally accepted. I just cannot let go until i do something about it.

It's good for me. It's cathartic. I bitch too much behind people's backs. I used to be the queen of passive aggressive. but now i'm not that anymore. I confront. I speak out. Partly because i think pregnancy has lifted my self-restraints. I feel like i need to get rid of scums and idiots so my(our) baby will live in a better world. I'm dramatising a bit but u get the point.

Take chain mails for example. I don't normally mind chain mails if it's entertaining- silly quizzes and personality tests, funny comics, touching stories... And i don't mind if the consequence of not forwarding a certain chain email to 999 people on my mailbox reads something like "bad sex for 10 years" or "no winning in mahjong for the next 20 rounds".

But last night i received one that crosses the line in my books.

Title reads: SEE PICTURE CAREFULLY
The picture is of this hindu god and goddess looking thing... (i won't post it cos frankly, it's v. eerie looking)

and the message reads something like. " XX ignored this email and 10 days later his son died, YY lost his job. ZZ who forwarded to 13 friends received a promotion..."

so when i read the thing i looked at the picture again to make sure i didn't miss any jokes. and when i realised there were NO jokes, i freaking unleashed my wrath upon the sender, and of course i cced everyone else who was in tht chain mail.

Who sends such malicious emails to friends?

Best still, i looked further at her so called 'friends' who sent her the email, they even dared to sign off with "best regards", or "have a nice day".

Say i over reacted. but i always have the excuse of my hormones raging. convenient eh?

all about the names

On my way to paris this year, i sat next to this wise chinese guy who told me tht he believes the name of a child will set precedence over the life this child is going to have. Guess wht his child's name is? FEI LONG. as in flying dragon. He must really want his son to be ferocious and scaly-and not to mention a frequent flyer.

According to him, it doesn't apply to english names. But tht's not to say it's OK to name ur son Willy, or Billboard, or Rambo.

So anyway, i know u must wonder if we have names for Tamagotchi. Of course we do!

If we have a boy, our boy will be named Dylan. After Bob Dylan.

And if we're having a girl, she will be Jade, named after Mick Jagger's daughter Jade Jagger (her full name is Jade Sheena Jezebel Jagger) but of course we won't do the whole shebang, Sheena Jezebel just doesn't go with Ng. But the idea is for our girl to be the daughter of a rockstar, haha.

People usually give the thumbs up for Dylan (although some say it reminds them of 90210 Dylan), we get more question marks on Jade. It doesn't matter. U can name ur kids whtver u want when u have ur own. Let us name our kids whatever WE want.

This brings me to a recent conversation i had with a long lost friend. She told me that Jade reminds her of Jade Goody- a british reality star dying of cervical cancer. She suggests another name - Siobahn. Okay when i saw the name i wasn't even sure how to pronounce it. Of course i politely declined her offer and told her tht i'd stick to Jade.

but wht i really wanted to say was, she can keep tht name for her own daughter. Better still she can name her son Siobak.

bitchy i know. it's the hormones talking.

craziEST celebrity update

This is by far the craziest and saddest thing i've heard. Chris brown and Rihanna are back together!! How can she ever accept him after he beat her to a pulp!

Tamagotchi, if u're reading this 10 years down the road, never take a man back if he physically/emotionally/psychologically abuse u. And if u're a boy, don't beat ur gf/wife! It crosses every possible line, only a wuss would beat a girl.

the mystery of astrology

I'm never one to believe in Astrology. I believe in the laws of god. What i am is what god made me.... Chinese however are ardent believers of astrology. They sometimes even hire people or date people based on their star signs. What intrigues me most is, different people have guessed my star sign correctly, after just working with me on one or two projects. Not that i believe in astrology now, but i wanted to know what they thought about me. How can they possibly guess tht i'm a virgo.

OK no need to read everything cos obviously if u're not a virgo u won't be interested. I've bolded some areas for ur interest. areas tht i think are particularly true, but then of course it's not all true. i am not a neat/clean freak. Mountain man will agree.

Introducing Tamagotchi

the latest addition to this blog. 12 weeks old tamagotchi does nothing but sleep and swim around my belly. of course i have to feed the thing on time if not an internal alarm will go off. My stomach will growl and my laptop keyboard will start morphing into chocolate bars.
